Signals

Find companies whose teams grew over the last six months

Coolie's Headcount Growth signal finds companies whose number of employees grew by at least the share you set over the last six months, across the whole company or in the departments you pick, such as sales or engineering. A growing team buys the tools it grows with. Coolie keeps the companies that fit your ideal customer profile, finds up to three decision makers at each and scores each lead; for the leads you pick, it writes a research brief and a personalized email and LinkedIn sequence.

How the Headcount Growth signal works

  1. Set the growth

A minimum, a tenth by default, and a maximum if you want one. Pick departments to measure only those teams, or leave them empty for the whole company.

  2. Coolie compares six months

It finds the companies whose headcount grew by that much over the last six months.

  3. It keeps the companies that fit your ICP

Your ideal customer profile (industry, company size, location) filters the companies before anyone is contacted.

  4. It finds up to three decision makers

At each company, Coolie looks for up to three people whose job titles match your ICP, and gives each lead a score.

  5. It researches the leads you pick

For the leads you choose, Coolie writes a research brief (the company's news, the person, the reason to write now) and a personalized email and LinkedIn sequence.

  6. It writes and sends from your own accounts

Email and LinkedIn steps go out from your own mailbox and LinkedIn account, spread over your working hours. You approve each message, or let the agent run on autopilot.

Which departments to watch

  • Sales or business development: a growing sales team needs data, tools and training.
  • Engineering or information technology: more developers mean more software seats and more infrastructure.
  • Customer service: more agents mean more support tooling.

Growth over six months, or roles opened this month?

Headcount Growth measures the people who joined, over six months. Hiring Velocity counts the roles opened in the last 30 days, before anyone joins. The first confirms a company grew; the second catches it as it starts. Headcount Decrease is the opposite signal.

Example (fictional)

You sell sales training and watch for growth in the Sales department.

Coolie finds Pellham Security, 160 employees in the UK, whose sales team grew by a third in six months.

It finds its VP of Sales and its Sales Enablement Manager, scores both, and once you pick them drafts an email about ramping up new sellers.

Every company and person in this example is invented.
